TRAILER REHABILITATION

I
took this trailer in on trade. It's a factory built 6x12 utility
trailer. Close inspection revealed the company that built it didn't put
much emphasis on quality or safety.

The tongue design leaves much to be desired.

None
of the material was welded around it's full periphery. The welds that
were performed were of poor quality. (Note the leftover MIG wire
sticking out.)

A couple more examples of the complete lack of weld quality.

Stripped the wood from the trailer and removed the inferior crossmember.

The
lack of fusion on the welds made disassembly easy! Note the rust
starting to form due to the lack of complete welds on the joints.

Flimsy angle crossmember replaced with 4" channel.

New crossmember welds MIG (GMAW), full periphery.

Vertical weld where the original tongue meets the new crossmember performed with 7018 stick (SMAW).
